Best Practices

Our standard for analyzing and evaluating attorney fees is reasonableness. The NALFA Best Practices are the generally accepted principles of the legal bill review profession. They apply to all qualified professionals who review, analyze, and evaluate legal fees.

The Best Practices Committee applies recommended rules proposed by the ABA, the DRI, and state bar associations to the NALFA Best Practices. Our network observes proven methodologies and pledges to adhere to the proper standard of reasonableness: Model Rule 1.5, case law, lodestar and/or litigation management guidelines.
